"Yale University - II" New Haven, CT
Before I came over to the US this time, I had seen a few TV programs in Japan dealing with John Kerry and President Bush. By these programs, I got to know that both candidates for the next election had been members of Yale's super secret society, "Skull & Bones." I was curious to know where that was located here on the Yale campus, and wanted to see it. I asked a man at the bookstore, but he didn't even know it. And the second person I asked knew it and its location was pinpointed on the map, saying it looks like a tomb. I soon headed for it, feeling half excited and half scared... When I finally saw it, I thought the building was larger than I had expected, but it sure looked mysterious anyway. It was a brown windowless building and remarkably different from other buildings nearby. Needless to say, I could not get into this building to take a look.

It was drizzling when I got out of the Yale Center for British Art. At a glance across the street, I could barely see some people with coffee cups. Anyway, I ran into the store to avoid the raindrops, then soon I realized it to be Starbucks. It was not look like Starbucks I usually see in Tokyo or in New York; inside was rather dim and cozy creating romantic, intellectual atmosphere.

As I was walking on the lawn of this historic campus, my very favorite songwriter Cole Porter crossed my mind suddenly. I believe he spent years at this college; I wonder if he walked on this lawn, too...
