I spent Christmas in Krakow, Poland this year. It was my second visit to Krakow after eight years. |
Swans were floating in flocks on the frozen Vistula reflected by the sun on the morning of Christmas Eve. |
The Wawel Royal Castle looked a little different in winter with the snow. |
Looking down the banks of the meandering Vistula from the Wawel Hill, I found a statue of Smok Wawelski, the Wawel Dragon that lived under the Wawel Hill. Could that be true? |
The Wawel Royal Castle was moody and quiet. No one was there to be found. |
Enjoyed being here all by myself, making me feel like I was the owner of the Castle. But I felt someone looking at me, and I glanced over.
OMG! It was him! It was a statue of Pope John Paul II who appeared beaming at me.
I walked down the Wawel Hill and headed for a house where Pope John Paul II lived from 1951 to 1963.
Inside were his pictures, robes, and furniture as well as medals of honors.
