Prague, Czech Republic - 2 |
As I was walking the Old Town in the early evening, I happened to come across the sign, "Don Giovanni." It was the National Marionette Theater showing Mozart's great opera, "Don Giovanni." It was an excellent timing. The show was just going to start in 30 minutes. Inside was very cozy and I could sit center. The crowd was mostly adults rather than children. The show started off with the hilarious conductor (of course, a marionette) greeted the audiences. Marionettes were bigger than I had thought. It lasted about 90 minutes and marionette staff showed up at the end of the performance. They looked so big for this small theater. It was one of the most precious experiences I had in Prague. | |
Walked along the Royal Road starting at the Municipal House where I happened to find the Fryderyk Chopin plaque on the wall of the building. He was here! I never thought I would meet him here in Prague, but why not? Prague was and still is the center of classical music and a lot of composers visited this town. And in the middle of the Old Town, I saw the Polish flag fluttering; it was the Polish Institute (Instytut Polski w Pradze/Polský institut v Praze). I felt good when I found it. |

Czech artist, David Černý's "Man Hanging Out." Actually, I had seen the same one in Chicago when there was the Prague Festival in 2007 hanging from the roof of the building of Columbia College Chicago. If you have a pair of binoculars, you should take a closer look. He has a moustache and looks smiling a bit. Kinda cute!
