Day 1 |
|
It was a beautiful May morning when I flew from London Stansted to Palma de Mallorca. Lots of easyJet fleets. | I jumped on an easyJet plane. It was a crowded party plane, everyone excited heading for Mallorca. | And soon I saw the Balearic Islands floating in the Med. |
It was late afternoon as I checked in the hotel, but I made straight for Valldemossa. | After having driven for about 20 minutes from the central Palma, cliff mountains began to tower alongside me. | And soon I saw many houses and a church that sit on a mountain. It was a church I had seen in the books on Fryderyk Chopin, and realized that I had finally come to Valldemossa! |
I got so excited as I drove up closer to it! | Here I am, finally! Since it was early evening, the mainstreet of the village was quiet. It was nice to check where's where. |
I strolled around looking for the monastery where Chopin once lived with Amantine Lucile Aurore Dupin, better known as George Sand to escape from the stresses of the weather and people in Paris, France. |
This bell tower I thought was that monastery, but it was not. It was the church of Sant Bartomeu. | So I resumed to look for the monastery. Near the Sant Bartomeu church, there was a nice house with flowers on the wall. | I was a bit concerned that the sun was getting low and the shadows were getting longer and I still had not been able to find the monastery. |
