Day 2
Valldemossa, Mallorca
Balearic Islands, Spain

This library used to be used as a meeting room for the monks. The monks were allowed to take out up to three books at a time. In the middle of book shelves, I noticed a beautiful triptych. As I stopped by another cell in the cloister and went out to the terrace, I found this garden named Prior's Garden. Just lemon trees and red flowers under the vast blue skies, with absolutely no one around. It was Eden's Garden to me.

In the Monastery, there was this souvenir shop that deals with "A Winter in Mallorca" in the Spanish, French and Deutsch as well as English versions from different publishers. And needless to say, the biography of Chopin. Tiny little dolls of Carthusian monks were also being sold here.

It was just too beautiful to call it a pharmacy. The Old Pharmacy is preserved intact from the 18th century. On the racks, I saw ceramic pots, bottles, and tools that had been saved over the centuries.

The church in the Charterhouse

After leaving the Monastery walking down the quiet passage, I glanced over at the bell tower of Sant Bartomeu Church. This is one beautiful hamlet! And kept walking and soon one of those familiar music piece of Chopin came up to my ears. I made for the direction of the sound. A performance of Nocturne No. 20 was from the Palace of King Sanche. It seemed a concert was taking place. I sat right by the Palace, remained and heard the whole concert after all, imagining those days Chopin spent right here in Valldemossa. Waltz No. 7, Prelude No. 15 "Raindrop," and Etude Op. 25, No. 1 followed.
