A lot of airlines have retired their Boeing 747 fleets for the past decade. Lufthansa is still flying 747s, but it is the latest variant of the 747 named 747-8 Intercontinental, with its stretched upper deck. As I knew it would be my last flight on a Boeing 747 and it was a brand new Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental fleet, which had made me feel even more precious and excited, I had reserved a business class seat on the upper deck. |
I had plenty of time at Haneda. I went to check my gate before I headed to the lounge. And of course, I checked my plane, Lufthansa Boeing 747-8!
I went up the stairs to the business class upper deck. It was a very comfortable upper deck cabin with lots of spaces to kick back and relax. I used to fly 747s in the 70s, 80s, and 90s, but this time, it was so very special!
My seat was 84K. I had selected this seat because it got a board right in front where flight attendants use when they get ready to serve snacks and meals.
Indeed, it was convenient for me, too, so I could put my stuff there and pick some drinks or tableware I wanted from there. | Prawns and Mango Salad with Endive, Lime Sweet Chili Sauce and Coriander
Fresh Green Salad with Cucumber presented with delicious Dressing | Snow-Poached Nordic Salmon with Saffron Pernod Sauce and Green Pea Puree
Edam, Coeur de Lion Camembert and Stilton Blue Cheese garnished with Apple Chutney and Walnut Chocolate Mocha Tart with Pecan Nuts |
I normally can't sleep on planes at all, but I could have some sleep on this flight. As I woke up, it had already been over the Baltic Sea, just passing Helsinki.
The last meal before landing. It was supposed to be dinner. Air-dried Beef and grilled roasted Vegetables with Balsamic Olive Oil and Hummus |
Looking down the city lights of Frankfurt at twilight, it was one of the most enjoyable flights.
