Back to Firenze and headed to the Campanile di Giotto as the sun was still high. I climbed up, up, up the stairs, wondering how many steps of stairs I have taken since this morning... I was very thirsty then, but couldn't stop climbing up to the top.

Phew! I made it to the top at last! Toward the northwest side of Firenze, I looked over the dome of the Cappelle Medicee and the Santa Maria Novella train station afar off. |
Then shifting a little toward northeast, the sun was spotlighting the hill of Fiesole through the clouds as if it were showing me. I could identify the Convento di San Francesco! | And to the east, I saw the Duomo strongly lit by the late afternoon sun. |
Taking a closer look, it was interesting to see those people up on the top of the Duomo. | In this picture with the Duomo in the back, I definitely look secure and confident with no fear in a wire-meshed "cage." I took a little rest there before going back to the ground. |
Unlike from the top of Duomo, I could easily look down without holding a fence and enjoy the view of the piazza. I was like, "Look ma, no hands!" The Campanile is almost as high as the Duomo, but I liked the views from the Campanile better. |
View on the south side, I looked over the Piazzale Michelangelo where I was heading back again to see the sun sets. |
